For purposes of realization of the Law of the KR "On local self-government", on the order of election, assumption of a position and discharge from the position of mayor of town the Union of LSG of the KR has worked out the regulations on fractions of town keneshs and directed it to town keneshs, where elections of mayors will take place.

On August 27, the elections of mayors of towns in a new format were conducted in 17 towns. For the first time candidacies to the position of mayor were nominated only by deputies of appropriate town kenesh. Beforehand deputies formed fractions for joint and concerted activities and elaboration of united attitude.
